Echo Valley Pool has long been a favorite spot for families to enjoy not only the pool but also day camps, picnics, parties and reunions. Churches also frequently used the location for baptisms, special services and church parties.
The Wright family purchased the pool from the original owner and builder, Charter Harris, in 1960, 30 years after it had been built. Mr. Harris had a vision to provide a place of recreation for families during the Great Depression when times were tough. The Wright/Lovell family has maintained that vision and mission through 50 years of good times and bad regardless of the economy. It is family owned and operated, "I worked there, met my husband there, all three of my kids have been lifeguards there, so it's definitely a family business."
Dr. Carole Lovell said.
Regular hours will be Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
"We just really want the community to know we're going to be there, we're going to be open. It's going to be good, clean recreation," Dr. Lovell said. "We're making some improvements and working on some surprises."
